TheFurnitureCapital.com begins its own story June 18, 2018, yet its roots go back many years to a unique history. In 1914, entrepreneur E.R. Brown opened the brick and mortar store, which operates successfully to this day. E.R.’s two sons, Bud and Warren, followed in his footsteps as second generation owners. Jump ahead to 1981, when Warren originated the unique concept of competitive furniture stores in the small town of West Frankfort combining forces to advertise. At the time, West Frankfort had five furniture stores in competition with one another. This ingenious advertising method was highly successful, and from Warren’s brainstorm, “The Furniture Capital of Southern Illinois” was founded. World travelers Warren and wife Jane had the privilege of planting a flag with the emblem “West Frankfort, The Furniture Capital of Southern Illinois” at the South Pole in 1994. The logo is effective as, today, people travel from a tri-state area to furniture shop in West Frankfort, Illinois.
Today, the Brown family wants to bring that shopping experience to people all over the country through our online presence.
